Evaluation of X-shaped welded joints with Co-Cr alloy under different welding parameters: analysis by micro-CT and flexural strength

This study evaluated the mechanical strength correlated to percentage of total volume weld and porosities Co-Cr alloy joints welded with TIG technique. Thirty specimens were perpendicularly sectioned long-axis rejoined by using X30-shaped joint design welding. They divided into 3 groups (n=10): CG1 a 60-A depth 90-ms pulse; CG2 120-ms pulse CG3 160-ms pulse. The submitted nondestructive tests: radiographic inspection, penetrant liquid Micro- CT (to calculate welding porosities) then tested 3-point bending. fracture surfaces analyzed scanning electron microscopy (SEM). data statistically 1-way ANOVA Tukey post hoc test for all variables which analyzed: flexural strength, porosities. Pearson correlation was also applied (ɑ=.05). showed that factors machine parameters not significant values (P=.231), (P=.057) (P=.057). There are no relationships between any pair after (P >.050). This, suggesting three regulation can be an option joining prefabricated rods in this kind union.
